National Trust Chert and Little Chert self-catering holiday cottages are distinctive and quirky 1970s houses less than a mile from the sea. Set within the quiet, residential area of St Lawrence and against a wooded cliff, the two properties benefit from the local climate meaning you can walk through areas with wildlife and plants more usually found in the Mediterranean. 

Chert sleeps four in one double and one twin bedroom. From the first floor there are wonderful sea views and a large balcony. A central spiral staircase leads you up to the first floor where two identical wings meet in a central hallway. The largely monochrome interior has a bright, orange bathroom with detailed mosaic features and the furniture is very much in the 1970s style. Space is available for two cars and other facilities include wifi, a tumble drier, washing machine, dishwasher and freezer. 

Due to a steep metal spiral staircase and an uncovered garden pond, these hazards may make this cottage unsuitable for children under 12.

Little Chert was built as a detached guest annex for Chert, which is next door, and sleeps two in one double. It is a small 1970s house with monochrome interiors, using the colours of the era together with natural stone and mosaics. The open-plan lounge, dining and bedroom area includes a wall bed that unfolds. Facilities include wifi, a washing machine, freezer and dishwasher. 

There is car parking for one car on the roadway and a small open plan garden with lawn area and rockery.

As Chert and Little Chert are National Trust properties, guests will have free access (during opening hours) to all Isle of Wight National Trust properties. Please take your holiday confirmation invoice as proof of stay to gain entry to these properties.
