Spiritual wellbeing can mean many different things to different people.

But whether you are into organised religion, are in touch with your Pagan self or just love the natural world, the Isle of Wight has something for you.

Standing on a North West Wight shoreline watching the sunset is an unforgettable experience and doing it with a glass of something at The Woodvale, Gurnard, or Waterfront, Totland makes it all the better.

However, if you are in touch with leylines and all things of Mother Earth, then visit The Longstone, the rock near Mottistone which is known for its mystic aura.

Some Islanders make the pilgrimage up to the stone at sunrise on spring and autumn equinoxes and summer and winter solstice and the Pagan community view it as a highly spiritual place. It is also the site of ancient burial mounds.

Christians will find Quarr Abbey, near Ryde, a haven of tranquillity inhabited by a small group of Benedictine monks who devote their life to God through work and prayer.

Their home and place of worship was once a retreat for 60s pop star Scott Walker as he sought refuge from the wild world of rock.

Carisbrooke Priory is no longer home to nuns as it once was, but is still a Christian community. It is open to help people find inner peace and holds noon services on the first Thursday ofeach month at noon.

If you are a churchgoer, there are other historic and beautiful churches worth exploring.

St Mildred’s Church at Whippingham near East Cowes was known as Queen Victoria’s place of worship while the majestic Newport Minster in the town centre is brimming with history and dominates the county town.
