One of the wonders of going on holiday in this country is getting up close and personal with the local cuisine.

The Isle of Wight has some brilliant farms which are only too happy to put their wares into cafes and shops for you to try.

Bluebells Café at Briddlesford Farm on the outskirts of Newport is in the heart of a working dairy farm and has an adjoining farm shop with its own cheeses and milk.

If you are looking for an unusual, but beautiful setting for your slice of lemon drizzle, you could try the tasty treats at Quarr Abbey between Ryde and Newport.

The Cow Restaurant & Bar champions the finest home-grown and locally sourced produce, and is renowned for it's wide range of award-winning burgers, which includes vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

Over at Bembridge, The Farm Shop & No. 8 Café, offers some tastebud-tingling options to eat and wonderful local and speciality produce to buy.

The best known of the Island’s farm kitchens and shops is probably The Garlic Farm at Newchurch, which has gained tons of national and international publicity for its “stinking rose” produce.

The new kid on the block of farm shops is Harvey Browns near Arreton. Opened in 2022, it has a spectacular food hall selling Isle of Wight and the farm’s own goods, and a popular café.

Another great choice is the Isle of Wight Farm Shop near Godshill. It offers Isle of Wight Meat Co. produce as well as everything from wine to tomatoes.
