An all-island tourist parking permit is available and covers the marjority of the on and off street parking areas, which are managed by the Isle of Wight Council. The tourist permit is not valid in a few of the car parks across the Isle of Wight. Please visit the Isle of Wight Council website for a list of these car parks.
Depending on how long you are planning on visiting for you can buy parking permits that become valid on the day of purchase so it is recommended you buy on arrival to the Island. The permit can be purchased for up to 14 days. You can find out more information by visiting the Isle of Wight Council website.
These permits are only available through PayByPhone. PayByPhone is a quick, easy to use mobile phone service, which lets you pay for your parking with a credit or debit card, rather than using cash at a machine. When you park your car in an area featuring the PayByPhone service, you simply dial the standard rate number shown on the machines and pay for your parking over the phone. You can also go to the website to pay for the number of days you require the permit for.
Once you have purchased your permit, this information will be stored electronically - Civil Enforcement Officers will check which vehicles are parked with PayByPhone via their handheld devices. You will not be issued with a permit to display in your vehicle.
