About
Stay at The Old Abbey Farmhouse Holiday Cottage that is located within the grounds of Quarr Abbey, a community of Catholic Benedictine monks, in the outskirts of Ryde on the Isle of Wight.
Historic cottage with countryside location
The beautiful Grade II listed cottage is situated within the countryside and adjacent to the ruins of an ancient Cistercian abbey, which was founded in 1132 by Baldwin de Redvers, Earl of Devon and fourth Lord of the Isle of Wight. It is located between Fishbourne and the village of Binstead that grew around the royal quarry. This quarry had been in use since the Norman Conquest, providing stone for Hampshire churches and also most notably the cathedrals of Winchester and Chichester.
Period property with modern features
The farmhouse cottage seamlessly blends modern design with historic features preserving the character and heritage of the property while providing the comforts of modern living.
As you enter into the bright hallway it leads to both the dining room and living room. The dining room has a dining table and chairs and a wood burner for those colder nights. There is also a wood burner in the living room where you can sit and relax enjoying views of the countryside. The kitchen is fully equipped for your stay with a dishwasher, oven and hob. Leading off the kitchen is the utility room with a washing machine and a downstairs bathroom featuring a roll top bath.
There are two bedrooms on the first floor. The master bedroom has a double bed and en-suite shower room. The second bedroom has a king size bed.
Outside space to enjoy
The enclosed garden has a seating area where you can take in the sights of the Abbey grounds and enjoy the warm evenings under the stars.
