About
This gorgeous barn conversion in Godshill offers bright accommodation in a picturesque rural setting with plenty of walks and trails for exploring the stunning countryside.
Stag Cottage was originally a large and ancient stone barn at Sainham Farm. It is situated in the attractive courtyard and has marvellous open views from the rear across the fields to the downs. The cottage is in one of the loveliest parts of the Island, lying at the foot of Appuldurcombe Down and above the beautiful village of Godshill in an Isle of Wight National Landscape (formerly known as Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). Godshill can be reached by taking a pleasant ten minute stroll through the beech copse and across the fields. The village has a variety of tea shops and restaurants, as well as two great public houses. This is a wonderful walking area with footpaths leading from the farm to Appuldurcombe and joining the extensive Stenbury Trail to the coast at Ventnor. The stunning beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are under a twenty minute drive away.
Stag Cottage has been skilfully designed to provide spacious accommodation with unforgettable rural views. It has been furnished and equipped with care in a modern style. The cottage offers sleeping accommodation for four persons in two double beds in two bedrooms. A travel cot is available upon request. The front door opens into a beautifully striking hallway with a central staircase ascending to a gallery that leads to two bedrooms. There is also a separate shower room with a built in shower and WC.
The kitchen diner overlooks beautiful farmland views to the rear. There is a dining table with 4 chairs and a wall mounted smart TV alongside a pretty dresser. The modern fitted kitchen benefits from a large electric ceramic range cooker with 5 hob plates, a separate worktop surface mounted hob for 2 pans, a second electric oven, a combination microwave oven with grill, dishwasher, washing machine and a fridge/freezer. There is an attractive dining area by the window with a table and chairs for the whole group. A cloakroom with W.C is also on the ground floor. The cottage is centrally heated and all heating and electricity is at no extra charge.
Guests have access to a lovely fenced garden at the rear of the cottage where they can relax and enjoy the open views. This is accessed around the side of the cottage and garden furniture is provided. Cars can be parked close to the cottage. A regular bus service and shop is within a ten-minute walk. Beautiful carpets of bluebells can be a joy to see in nearby woodland in late April and early May.
