If you are looking for something a little different for your break on the Isle of Wight why not rent a houseboat? With ever changing views and the to-ing and fro-ing of boats in the harbour, the constantly changing vista from Houseboat Islay’s deck is a great place to while away the hours or simply watch the sun go down across the bay.

Designed and built by its owners (www.ogilviedesignstudio.com) in 2019, Islay’s interior owes plenty to the stunning Scottish Island that is its namesake. Heather tones and reclaimed worn oak make for a calming environment, dreamy bedrooms in watery tones ensure a great nights sleep, while contemporary design touches and bespoke furniture keep her bang up to date. Visually the interior can only compete to rival the stunning harbour sunsets.

Islay can sleep up to 9, perfect for a family getaway to the island. The houseboat will rise and fall with the tides and come to settle on the seabed, don’t worry no rocking as it more like a floating home than a boat. The entrance leads across a walkway to the front door which opens onto the main open-plan living area. With kitchen/utility, toilet, banquet dining table, and comfortable sitting areas, and sliding/folding doors that floods light into the main room, leading onto a deck with panoramic views of the harbour. Downstairs there are 4 comfortable bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, including a bunk room for the kids, perfect for 2 families. Bembridge boasts some fabulous places to visit and eat out and our houseboat is only a short walk from the village and beaches.
