The Sanctuary is a free entry, free parking site with a gift shop and a cafe. We survive because of the goodwill of supporters, visitors and people who adopt donkeys or buy products in our shop and cafe.

Come and meet our lovely donkeys!

The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary has been a registered charity since 1991 and provides a secure, peaceful, happy, lifelong home for over 100 donkeys which have been neglected, abandoned, or that are in need of care. Set in 55 acres of the picturesque Wroxall valley, with a wildlife area to explore, shop and café inside a converted rustic barn.

Come and get up close to the donkeys, take part in one of our activities such as donkey grooming or shetland slalom, enjoy a delicious meal in Grazers Café and pick up a souvenir of your visit in Browse and Brays gift shop, or take out an adoption of any of our donkeys and ponies.

Groups
The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary offers a very warm welcome to all groups including coach tours, school visits, workplace groups and more. With free entry and free parking to our delightful rural site, it’s the perfect destination for a group visit.

Groups can meet over 100 donkeys, ponies and mules with a free guided tour or enjoy the stunning views from our café terrace while enjoying delicious food and drink from our award-winning café. We offer a special package for school groups and can also provide a discounted cream tea for coach groups when booked in advance. Our well-stocked gift shop features unique, donkey-themed gifts for every member of the family including four legged friends! Coach drivers receive a complimentary hot drink and slice of cake to be enjoyed whilst their passengers are saying hello to our donkeys.

A group visit to our sanctuary is more than just a trip out - it's an opportunity to experience rural life, connect with animals, and support a worthy cause.
