Nestled in the heart of rolling Isle of Wight countryside, award winning Nettlecombe Farm offers you and your family a unique self-catering holiday that will leave you with wonderful memories.

With nine award-winning, dog friendly, luxurious self-catering cottages to choose from, sleeping three to ten, we can cater for all party sizes. Along with three coarse fishing lakes and a petting farm that kids will love, which includes a wide variety of not just farm animals but reindeer, alpacas and an emu too, there are play areas for children to let off steam with toddlers play equipment, a big Wendy house and a sports field. There is also the opportunity to join one of our farm feeding tours, these unique tours give you the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a farmer and are often enjoyed as much by adults as the kids!

In the Morris family for over a hundred years, Nettlecombe Farm is located in amongst idyllic South Wight countryside, but is also just half a mile away from the village of Whitwell where you’ll find a popular local pub The White Horse, a petrol station, church and bus stop. A couple of miles further on is Niton, our neighbouring village, with a well-stocked general store (which also delivers) and off licence, post office, chemist and pubs, The Buddle Inn and White Lion. Newport, the county town is a twenty- minute drive away and if you like to be beside the seaside, Ventnor is just three miles away.

Of course, you might not want to go too far from the farm, and we offer yoga and pilates classes weekly, but the Island boasts beautiful walks and bike rides, and we can provide a map of some of our favourites. We also have a local massage therapist who is available for guests to book treatments with during their stay! The perfect relaxation during your stay! As part of the Island’s ‘Drive Less, See More’ campaign we are proud of our sustainability credentials winning a gold medal in the Green Star Scheme for sustainable travel and charging for electric cars on site (charges apply). We also have discounted ferry prices which are available when you book.

Staying at Nettlecombe Farm means that you are not just staying in an Isle of Wight National Landscape (formerly known as Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) but also a UNESCO biosphere reserve: a place with a special mix of the best wildlife sites found anywhere in England, landscape that is nationally important and a rich culture and heritage. Our fields have been grazed for generations by beef cattle and sheep and we think that the passing of the seasons and the changing landscape make Nettlecombe Farm worth visiting at any time of year and we are happy to offer short breaks for out of season guests visiting outside school holidays. 

Whilst we have a beautiful rural setting, we are not far from civilisation. At the bottom of the hill is the village of Whitwell with a petrol station, church and bus stop. Two miles away is the neighbouring village of Niton where there is a large general store and off licence (open late and on Sundays), a Post Office, butcher, public house and a chemist.

The seaside town of Ventnor is approximately three miles away and the island's capital Newport is around twenty minutes drive. We think you will love this part of the Isle of Wight as much as we do. The passing of the seasons and the changing landscape make Nettlecombe Farm worth visiting at any time of year and we are happy to offer short breaks for out of season guests visiting between October & May.

THE FARMHOUSE (OATS, WHEAT AND BARLEY):

Peak season bookings are from Saturday to Saturday

Off peak bookings are available to arrive / depart on any day

Combining rustic charm, comfort and space. The farmhouse properties offer all that you need to give you the perfect base for your holiday with all the comforts of a home from home. In addition to the facilities listed above, the farmhouse properties are all provided with:

• WC and bathroom with over-bath power shower
• Double glazed windows
• Use of laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer
• Heating by energy saving radiators 

THE COTTAGES (FORGE AND CORNER):

YOGA:

Nettlecombe work with a range of wonderful, experienced Yoga & Pilates teachers who offer weekly classes, workshops and residential retreats at the farm. Classes are held in the under floor heated studio which provides the perfect space and environment for your practice. 

EV CHARGING:

One EV charging point is available onsite for all cottages to use. Guests must bring their own cable and follow the instructions for use on site. Charges apply

WIFI:

We have WiFi data dongles available for our guests to hire at an additional cost during their stay for use in all properties except Corner & Forge Cottages which do have Wifi already available.

FISHING:

If you enjoy fishing then you should take advantage of our three lakes that are located a 150 yard stroll down the lane, which is also accessible by car. These man made but now wholly naturalised lakes cover an area of 1.5 acres and are well-stocked with carp, roach and tench of various sizes. The largest recorded fish caught from these lakes to date was a 20lb carp caught by a 12 year old boy.

Yearly, double figures are caught. As well as being a peaceful place to pass the time and admire the beautiful scenery the lakes offer something to anglers of all abilities; good sport for the experienced angler and simply a chance to catch fish for the novice.

Guests staying at Nettlecombe Farm can fish free of charge, and the lakes are also open to the public for a daily 'per rod' charge of £5. The lakes are open from dawn to dusk all year round.

COLOURING FUN:

Local artist, Zoe Sadler has created colouring pages of our farmyard and animals that can be downloaded for free from our website.
