The Tap Room

About

The Tap Room is located within a Grade I listed fort in the West Wight of the Island and is within a protected country park. The fort was built in 1853 as a Palmerston defence to guard the sea passages to the Solent and Portsmouth.

Luxury place to stay
The house within the fort has an open plan living and dining area on the first floor that overlooks the moat and courtyard. There are three bedrooms and a family bathroom. The king bedroom with en-suite shower room has views of the central courtyard. The double and twin bedrooms have views of the grass moat behind. The Tap Room sleeps six people plus for young families there is a travel cot, highchair, potty and sink step. Plus, for older children there are crabbing kits.  

Explore the outside 
The communal landscaped roof garden has breathtaking views of the Solent, the country park and over to Tennyson Point. There is seating and a BBQ area. It’s the perfect place to relax, exercise or just take in the sunsets and sunrises. 

The fort sits within the Golden Hill Park and provides the best playground for all ages with paths and trails around ponds, woodlands and grasslands. Enjoy walking, riding and picnicking within the country park. Direct access is provided from The Tap Room.

The fort is secure with a double gated access and there are two marked car parking spaces in the courtyard outside the house. 

Discover the surrounding area
The Tap Room is located close to Yarmouth, the small harbour town and Freshwater that has a range of shops. The iconic Needles landmark is close by as well as one of the picturesque beaches in the West Wight, Colwell Bay.
