About
Quay cottage is ideally situated in a quiet no-through road adjacent to the historic and picturesque Newport Quay, only a short stroll to the town centre for shopping, pubs, restaurants and cinema. Newport bus station, with connections to all parts of the island makes a holiday without a car very convenient. The site of the Isle of Wight music festival is a short walk away.
From outside your front door is a riverside foot/cycle path which leads eventually to Cowes, passing pretty countryside, a leisure centre with indoor swimming pool, and the Folly Inn pub/restaurant, a favourite with yachts people. This location is ideal for walking and cycling, with lots of linked paths.
On the harbour itself is the popular Bargeman's Rest with local food and traditional ales and regular music sessions. The excellent Quay Arts Centre is just along from there, with a wide range of events including exhibitions, music, film, theatre, comedy nights etc. It also has a lovely riverside cafe.
This bright and welcoming cottage is comfortably furnished and well equipped, including free wifi, with accommodation for up to 6 people (with sofa bed).
Newport itself is full of history with predominantly Georgian and early Victorian architecture, and much of the towns former character has been preserved within its narrow alleys, squares and the Quayside.
Places of interest include Carisbrooke Castle, the Guildhall Museum of Island History and the Newport Roman Villa.
