About
Nestled in the heart of Victorian Ventnor, you will find the True Food Kitchen, a hidden treasure that has become one of the Isle of Wight’s most celebrated gastronomical experiences.
Visit us and you’ll be treated to a menu that combines Korean, Japanese and South East Asian flavours, fused with the freshest of local ingredients, then crafted masterfully by award winning chef and owner, Adam Fendyke.
From small plates with big taste explosions, to locally caught seafood, steaks, daily changing specials and a seven course chef’s tasting menu, creativity, flavour and high quality is at the heart of everything we do.
As you eat, explore our extensive wine list, sample some sake, or treat yourself to a cocktail.
Intimate and unpretentious, The True Food Kitchen - which is located opposite the Arts Club in Ventnor - has the warmth and ambience of a good friend’s dinner party. The mango wood furnishings of the restaurant are handmade by local craftsman Xylo Design, the artwork was gifted by Turner Prize Winning artist and regular customer, David Firmstone and the copper façade of the kitchen was salvaged from the rooftop of Chale Abbey, which is one of the oldest domestic buildings on the Isle of Wight. Above this copper façade, the open kitchen allows diners to watch our chefs prepare the food, while the front of house team create their own theatre, mixing up Japanese inspired cocktails.
During the summer of 2020 we opened our second restaurant, True Food Kitchen @ Castlehaven. This alfresco dining experience is to be found next to St Catherine’s Lighthouse on the most southern point of the island. Here diners can enjoy simple, Asian inspired dishes, sip a chilled glass of Provence Rose whilst looking out to sea where dolphins and seals pass by.
A visit to either True Food Kitchen venue is truly a delight to the senses and we get very booked up! If you are planning on visiting us whilst you holiday on the island, please make sure you give us a call or email through our website just as soon as you can.
