About
St Catherines is a bright and cosy three-bedroom Victorian cottage offering enclosed gardens and a balcony with sea views. Situated on a peaceful lane beside Tennyson Down, St Cats is 450m from the charming beach at Freshwater Bay.
This stylishly renovated cottage, which sleeps up to six, is located in a Conservation Area and an Isle of Wight National Landscape (formerly known as Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) near the Dimbola photography museum and tea room. It is also a short walk away from The Orchard Brothers, a family-run grocers trading since 1865, and popular local restaurant, The Piano. St Cats is convenient for a plethora of local walks, including along the coastal path towards Compton Bay, to the Needles over Tennyson Down, and along the Yar estuary to Yarmouth. The pubs, restaurants, shops, playground and leisure centre/pool of Freshwater village are also only a 15/20-minute walk away. There’s plenty to do without a car, but St Cats also offers onsite parking for one vehicle.
On the ground floor is a beamed living room with sea glimpses and a wall-mounted TV, fitted with a Roku streaming device. There is a ground-floor WC and shower room for when you come back from the beach, a utility area with washer and dryer, and a modern double-height rear extension, with a table for six and well-equipped kitchen for those who like to go gourmet on holiday (dishwasher included). There is also a good selection of books, games and toys for both young and old.
Upstairs are three bedrooms, two with doors off the balcony and sea views: the Master with a king-sized bed and Bedroom 2 which can be configured with either two singles or a king. Bedroom 3 has two singles and overlooks a tranquil meadow. There is also a family bathroom with WC and shower over the bathtub.
The side and rear gardens are fully fenced, with a patio and outdoor table for six, flower borders, a lawned area and a sunny corner with decking.
