About
East Cowes Beach is a quiet shingle and sand beach with fantastic views across West Cowes and its marina, and also out across the Solent. It is good for family swimming and as it is tucked away behind the town it is a great beach to visit if you are looking for somewhere a bit quieter during your visit to the Isle of Wight.
The beach runs along the Esplanade which is a very short distance out of East Cowes town, and the access road runs the length of the beach behind the sea wall, with a wooded area to the rear perfect for walks. With a great variety of vessels regularly moving through the Solent it is also a great vantage point for watching boats and yachts.
As you move along the Esplanade from the town there is an adventure playground and paddling pool, with a row of large green beach huts about halfway down. Parking along the Esplanade is mainly free but there are time restrictions closer to town. A short walk back towards town there is a supermarket.
TOP TIP:
The beach does mostly disappear when the tide is right in, so make sure to check the tides if you are planning a trip here. There are plenty of woodland walks right behind the beach if you are waiting for the tide to recede.
